There are many myths about targeting belly fat. Some people say that you need to do lots of sit ups and that will burn the fat. Other people state that you need to just burn lots of calories and the weight will begin to reduce all over the body, including the stomach area.
So Who Is Right?
Well that is a question that probably can’t be answered directly. The truth is that both parties are right to a certain extent and both methods can lose belly fat but there is more to it than just doing sit ups. Sit ups will just make your stomach muscles stronger, they won’t burn the fat.
The second statement is more realistic. Burning lots of calories will make your body use the stored fat as energy, so in time your overall body fat will reduce and you will become thinner. But you need to make sure that you are burning more calories than you are consuming, so you diet is just as important too. You need to work out how many calories you are consuming, then make sure you are burning more. This calorie deficit is what will make you lose weight.
So, targeting belly fat is possible but only in an overall way. There isn’t one single exercise you can do that will make your belly fat reduce. The same can be said of aerobic exercises, they can be used to reduce belly fat but it won’t just target the belly area, it will work all over your body.
A combination of aerobic exercise, diet and stomach exercises are the only way you can eliminate belly fat. So create yourself a strict plan and stick to it. Set small goals and reward yourself when you reach each one. That way you will reach your long term goals faster than you ever thought possible.
