Ladies, the weather outside is unpleasant and your mood might not be so delightful after a long day working, dealing with kids and then getting ready for the holidays. PTA bake sale? Ugh. Mother-in-law on the phone? We'll be right there. Deep breath. There's no time (and possibly no budget) to run out to a local spa for a nice soaking bath and scrub. That doesn't signify you don't get the R&R necessary to de-stress your life. How about bringing home spa treatments with you for your holidays.

Creating a Bathroom Home Spa on a Budget

You can change your bathroom into a five star spa with only one member: YOU. Here are some of my favorite tips on how you can "get away" and feel great with spa facilities never leaving your house.

- Make your home spa to model your favorite spa. If you like the fact that they provide water out of crystal glasses then buy a gorgeous goblet for your bathroom. Invest in that fluffy robe and have fabulous baskets to place your home spa tools. Hide a few stunning candles that only come out for spa night and special towels that you only use for these special times. Buy a petite boom box and have relaxing music ready, try Soundings of the Planet-Healing Music. "Borrow" a do not disturb sign from a hotel visit or make one to droop outside the door. It's a way to telling your family that you've checked out for the next half hour!

- Do you love how before any treatment at spa there is always an instant scrub. You can create a quick DIY home body scrub that's equivalent to any anti-aging skin care products by trying the following: Buy a bag of Kosher salt and your favorite essential oil such as lavender or rose. Mix a teaspoon of oil to 12 cup of salt and mingle until you have a loose paste. Don't crush the salt granules. Keep this mixture in a plastic bowl next to your shower or bath. By the way, skip the sugar scrubs. The granules are much smaller and less effective. Personally , I prefer Nantucket Natural Oils for their concentrated purity. Try adding flowers, including rose petals to this salt mix. Now, just use a cloth or a loofah and scrub your body from head to toe. It's natural, affordable and you will feel like silk.
